FAQs

What is indoor cycling?

Indoor cycling is a group exercise where participants ride a stationary bike to the rhythm of music under the direction of an  instructor. Indoor cycling is a low-impact,  calorie-burning experience.  It's a "Cardio High"  that clears your mind and heart and energizes you for the rest of your day.  Riders report having more energy, improved cardiovascular health, increased strength, and greater endurance.  A typical calorie burn for a one hour cycling class ranges from 400-800 calories!

Will indoor cycling help you lose weight?

Yes. Indoor cycling will help you shed pounds and lower your body fat if done  regularly and in combination with strength training and a well-balanced diet. It also has tremendous cardiovascular benefits, which will improve your health long-term.

Will indoor cycling make my legs bigger?

No.  Indoor cycling will create definition by elongating leg muscles.

What makes Revolution Cycle and Fitness special?

Revolution Cycle and Fitness offers a warm, relaxed, supportive environment. Our instructors have been carefully chosen for their quality and love of personal fitness. Each of our instructors is certified in group fitness, indoor cycling, and CPR, with some holding additional certifications in specialty areas.

How do I start?

Check our schedule for the class most convenient for you. Then sign up online to reserve your bike or space. If you are new to indoor cycling, please arrive at least 15 minutes early, so we can show you how to set-up the bikes and review general information. The resistance knob on each bike allows you to control the pedal speed. Start slowly until you get more comfortable with technique. The challenge is in changing speed, resistance, and intensity, as well as learning basic movements. Don't hesitate to ask questions. Our instructors are there to guide and help you along the way!

How long is a typical class?

A typical cycle class consists of a 45 to 60 minute ride with cooling down and  stretching.  Some classes may include light weights  in order to work your core and upper body.  See our list of classes for full descriptions and class length.

How do I reserve a bike?

Available classes are listed and bikes can be reserved online by clicking the link to the schedule. You can also download the Glofox app and easily reserve your bike with our user-friendly system. Drop-ins are  accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis and based on availability. Cancellations must be made at least 12 hours prior to the class.

If I have an injury from another sport, is indoor cycling a good alternative?

Because there is little to no impact to your joints while cycling, it may be an excellent way to cross-train and avoid further injury.  Consult your doctor if you need help determining if indoor cycling is a safe option for you.

What type of gear is needed to participate?

Comfortable workout attire is all that is needed to get started.  However, cycling-specific gear can make your ride even better.  Clip-in cycling shoes give the rider more leverage and power. Our bikes are compatible with SPD cleats. A heart rate monitor  will also help maximize and measure every workout.

What do I need to bring to class?

A water bottle should be brought to class.  It's always a good idea to drink plenty of water during your workout. Some additional things you may want to bring include a small hand towel, fitness watch or heart monitor, and clip-in cycling shoes with SPD cleats.

What is the age requirement to take a class?

Riders and participants must be at least 13 years old for all classes.

Do I have to be in great shape to take a class?

No, anyone can benefit from indoor cycling, as well as the other forms of fitness classes we offer at Revolution. Because you control the resistance of your bike, you can go at your own pace. A beginner can take a  class right alongside an expert.  It's a great way to get in shape and  grow in your personal fitness journey!

CYCLE GEAR RecoMMendations

When looking at each type of shoe under the attached links, you will see various options (colors, sizes,  SPD vs. DELTA cleats, cleats included with shoes vs. not included, etc.). Please be sure to select a shoe that is SPD compatible. Some of the shoe options come with SPD cleats included, whereas others in the listing will say shoes only. Please do not order any shoe option that is ONLY Delta compatible. Some shoes are SPD and Delta compatible, which is fine as long as they are SPD compatible. Please take time to read the reviews and information about sizing before ordering as well!
